Pro Bono Promo 7 Months Later

So I posted these on my Facebook Page in May but I never threw them on my blog so I figured I'd put them here anyway. Back in May I decided to check back on some of my Pro Bono Promo street arts, although I didn't have time to find them all... but here is what they looked like, 7 months after their creation.

From the top: Colgate, Nutella, Heinz, Miracle Whip, Cheez Whiz, Maxwell House.

Guys, Cheez Whiz strips paint off the wall....

#BRILLIANTWORKS

Hey guys!! Here's a really fun #BRILLIANTWORKS project I got to be a part of for Vitaminwater Canada. I got to team up with the awesome Lauren from LaurDIY and we had the opportunity to create our own project together and get it documented. We decided to pixelate things around Kensington Market (Toronto) using large matted prints.

It was a total blast and the videos and photos turned out so sweet! Check out the other #brilliantworks in the series if you have time (there are more to come from artists all around Canada). Thanks Free Agency! :)

Trueman St. Bridge - Brampton Community Project

So a couple of weeks ago I was part of a really fun community project in Brampton! The task was to repaint a long bridge near Sir Winston Churchill elementary school and have everybody included in the painting process!

I was the art director so I thought of the idea of painting the school colours striped all along the bridge. I then added stencilled patterns on the stripes - hearts & peace signs, as well as the words love & respect. We also repainted one of the concrete walls along the bridge ramps. It was a lot of work prepping and painting those stripes! Thanks for Garry, Don, and all the volunteers that helped out with the process!

The event was really awesome and big, and a lot of the people enjoyed it despite the chilly weather. :) That's also a photo of me in the paper.

Feel free to check out the story on The Brampton Guardian. I'll try to post some more photos/videos of the aftermath soon! The bridge is super beautiful & colourful right now. :)

Blog Update.

Hey dudes.

I hope everyone's having a great summer. Mine has been full of ups and downs and turns and jumps. My creative projects have been somewhat evolving, especially the bigger ones, and I've been looking forward to doing more collaborative projects with others (one girl can only do so much alone). So, holler if you'd like me on your team!

Although I graduated from photography school last year, I'm not pursuing a photography career at this time, mostly because I can't afford it and I still don't know as much as I'd like to know. I'm instead trying out some new paths - you'll see really soon! I've been hoping to network a little more in the GTA, with people from different types of creative fields - so let me know if you want to meet up. :)

I need some new inspirationnnnnnnn!!
And chocolate.

Cheers,

"Art from the Inside Out" @ PAMA

I haven't posted an entry in a while! I was distracted and unmotivated, but I was also working on some gallery stuff. :) I got the opportunity - many thanks to Garry from The Bridge - to create some projects for an exhibit at PAMA called Art from the Inside Out. It's featuring artwork from inmates and ex-inmates in the area.

PAMA, Brampton, Installation, Prison

Above is an installation I created, with the help of many friends, for this exhibit. It represents inmates being viewed as being all the same, and labelled with a number. The bar code number I used may not have been random. You can view a progress photo here and here.

hand prints, finger prints, hands
Here I made a giant photograph of hands - my hands actually - to go with the feel of the exhibit. You can see all the details in the skin, because I made this photo using my Skin Prints style. This was the first time I tried using whole hands by piecing together 4 strips of tape. Many people loved it! It was awesome.

Above I thought of making a "sign in" board for people to put their finger prints. I thought it tied really well with the whole theme, and many people enjoyed this one as well! I was surprised at how many people had already signed it when I arrived to the opening reception.

Here we had rounded up some great quotes from ex-inmates to display. I tried to make it look like they were printed on metal sheets of paper - but it was actually Bristol board! I fooled a few people.

On the bench I also created a book labelled "Add Your Story", where people can write down their own personal stories of times when they felt imprisoned - not necessarily physically.

Some of the ex-inmates attended, too. It was really fun to be a part of this, and it was quite a lot of work! I really appreciate all the help I received, and the great people I've met through this.

If you're in Brampton, you can see the exhibit until July 7th. :)

Thanks for reading!
