My latest project is a street art series located downtown Brampton titled Pro Bono Promo. It's kind of like graffiti, although I created the logos using that brand's main product. For example, the Cheez Whiz logo is actually made out of Cheez Whiz! The name came from poking fun at the fact that this almost looks like free advertising for the companies - with free samples included! A big thanks to my friend who helped me make this happen! :) Some of them didn't last long at all, while others are still out there deteriorating slowly. This has probably been my favourite project I've done so far.
Here are some extra photos of detail shots and some of the aftermath:
I was thinking that maybe a direction you could take it would be that instead of simply wasting the food maybe set it up someplace beneficial. IE. make a clean surface in a cat shelter and set up a Whiskas logo or something and get the hungry kitties to have a field day on it, or something like that.
Thanks for your suggestion Geof. I think the topic of "wasting food" is a little controversial, especially here in North America where obesity is an extreme problem. What is "wasting" food exactly? Is it when food is purchased and not consumed? In that case, if a person buys 10 jars of Nutella all for themselves, as long as they consume all 10 jars completely, that's not a waste? Does their body not store those extra calories as "waste"?
I think we all have a different definition of what is "wasteful". If two people have a jar of Nutella each, why does it matter if one decides to consume it while the other decides to use it for an art project? Some varying factors could include someone's financial situation, someone's health/body weight, someone's location & how they dispose of the containers, etc.
AWESOME work, loved it. But i got a question: How did you guys do that? I mean, I always wanted to paint a sign in my wall but never found the proper style. I thought of doing it on wood, on paint and on (something that i don't have a clue of it's name in inglish) BUT - now i've found it.... and it will use the same tecnic that you people used on the Nutela sign.... So, can you help me?
Hey Tiago! These were some simply with stencils that I cut out of Bristol board. :) I have a small printer so I would print the big logos in pieces, put them together and tape the big logo to Bristol board. I'd use a utility knife to cut them out. Once you have a stencil, you can use different things to apply it to places.
super awesome, i just readed it in a dutch newspaper called ''7 days'' you are famous! respect. (yes, i am dutch and my English isn't verry good... sorry ;-D)

They're all near the streets/buildings around Queen & Main. These were done throughout the past month, so a few are pretty much gone by now!

Just some food for thought (pun intended)...
Wasting may have been the wrong choice of words, I meant just not using it for its marketed purpose. Anyway keep up the interesting work!
Awesome idea, Dori. We're posting about your project up on The Awesomer tonight!
That's awesome!!! (pun intended...) :P
