Dori The Giant vs. Android

I'm curious, but does the Dori The Giant logo remind you of the Android logo? When I created my blog, I didn't know about Android's existence, and I stumbled upon the logo one day on a bus ad. I thought it looked similar to mine, and it bummed me out - people probably think I was trying to rip off their logo. Ever since then I've been seeing the Android logo everywhere.

I need your opinions!
Should I also change my logo once I change my blog layout this year?

Naw, I love the logo! I can see the similarity if you're looking for one but it's just because they're both simplistic and green.

If you wanted to, you could simply change the colour if you do decide to go with a different colour scheme for the new layout. But it's not necessary.

Thanks man.
I've always wondered if people even pay attention to logos.

I personally think it's a huge part of a website!

I only recognise yours! :D
Good sign, right? Yours is so much cuter and personable. I don't understand the arms of the other one.

They look similar, but certainly not similar enough to think that any one was based off of the other. I promise.

Android-type logos are inevitably going to resemble each other. To be able to stand out within this resemblance is awesome. I think your logo has much more character than the Android one (which looks like a garbage can, really). No change, s'il vous plait!

I even know the Android logo and it never crossed my mind until you brought it up! :) Remember this awesome quote from Jim Jarmusch whenever you feel this way:

"Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery - celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: “It’s not where you take things from - it’s where you take them to."

I think your character is much cuter than the other Android. It hadn't occurred to me to make the comparison until you pointed it out. Your character is much more friendly looking and could be a robot, or an alien or even a martian - in other words he's more imagination-friendly than the other one who is just an android.

Just keep doing what you do. I enjoy your creations - it's always a delight to stop by and see what new thing you will delight us with! - G

i love your logo! it looks like a cute lil robot. the droid logo looks like R2D2. doesn't look like you're copying to me.

if you were to change it at all, just change the color. make the giant mauve and the rest the greens. so you don't have to change the layout too much!

These comments made my day, thanks everyone!!

Kami, your quotes are awesome, I'm definitely saving those for some bad days..

I'll consider changing the colour. Maybe even the colours of my entire blog. :) Change can be good.

I, for one, would like to see more of the logo. If it does resemble the Android, it's only in that it looks much more alive.

Glad you like it! :) There's a nifty little image that you can use if you like:

It helps me too when I'm feeling a bit like I'm never truly inspired.

Personally, I really don't pay much attention to logos. I'm probably pretty late on this. Just came across your blog. If you hadn't brought it up I probably wouldn't have noticed. I see a little similarity. I mean, they're both green and (in my opinion) robotic looking, but to me, they're not similar enough to change. I like them both! To me they're cute. Even if it did look more similar, who cares? You made yours first! (Correct me if I'm wrong.) And if people give you crap about them looking alike? Who cares?! I love your blog, keep it up:)
