Like a lot of girls, I'm against birth control so I get my period regularly. If it weren't for tampons, I'd probably hate life. My favourites also happen to be O.B. tampons - they're great. I decided to show some love and made accessories in their name. I made a tampon bracelet out of O.B. tampons, a tampon key chain out of cute fabric, and mini tampon earrings out of felt.
(model: my little sister.)
Also, I guess you could add red felt to the earrings to make it seem like the tampons were used - but I think a lot of people would find that gross. Personally, I think that would be really funny. What do you think?
i love your tampon accessories! =] i use a DivaCup though, but this is really great. i think it's weird that people get grossed out by this kind of stuff.
No way, you do? I've never heard of anybody who does. I've heard of the DivaCup about 4 years ago or so.. and I've always had so many weird ideas on how disastrous it could be! I never ended up getting one though.
Many forms of birth control actually regulate periods & they're sometimes recommended for women with period-related problems. Only when I was on birth control did I ever have regular cycles. I also remember when tampons were cited in a rash of 55 TSS outbreaks & 7 deaths in a mere 6 months. I remember OB being specifically talked about, although I don't know if that was real or rumor. Of course, the FDA didn't act on it for another 2 years. I'll pass on the jewelry, but I'm 42.
I heard about the regulation thing also, but I've also read up on some really bad effects of birth control. It ruined a lot of people's lives - even though the side effects might be rare.. TSS is rare also.
But another reason I'm against birth control is because it makes the lining of your uterus thin making it harder for implantation (if the egg does happen to get fertilized) and then aborts it. I'm 100% against abortions and I cannot accept that I might be aborting a human being through my actions.
HAHA. these pieces of jewelery make me laugh. i mean. they're great and all. but i just think it'd be hilarious if they got wet, is all.
and i'm supposed to be on birth control to regulate. i have POS. and it helped a lot with that. BUT i got off of it after a year. because i hated how i felt. i was a stranger when i took it. and i tried many different types. to each their own, no?
You still get your "period" when you are on most forms of birth control as in you need tampons monthly. I was on birth control for five years and got pregnant healthily and easily, probaby because I used the pill to regulate my Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome.
I think its an interesting concept..but the keychain one I thought was pretty cute...glad I came across your blog, loving it. Hope you have an amazing Easter weekend, lots of love! xoxo
Hahaha I love the tampon accessories!! I'm against birth control too. It even makes you cranky and oversensitive. And there are so many side effects I'm afraid of. Like Dori says, even if they're rare.
i've actually always found tampons kind of annoying and scary...and i've been on birth control for my cramps (they're put me in the hospital bad) and that messed up my hormones and made me totally depressed (even though they say it happens to less than 1% of people, i guess i was one of the lucky ones haha) but i HATE pads so i decided to try the DivaCup. you can leave it in for a long time (up to 8 hours, i think?) without ever having to worry about TSS or anything! and they're actually really easy to use and clean once you get the hang of it. i swear by mine. so you should try it out if you're leaning towards it!
Okay, I think these accessories are hilarious.. i would be way too embarrassed to wear them though ha ha.. i feel ya.. I've avoided birth control since about 6 months after i was married.. i figured i'd use it when i got married because thats what you do.. but just felt way better about not taking it.. and felt more normal being just me.. un regulated! :) (not that i think its bad for anyone else.)
I'm currently on birth control. It makes me feel so much better when my monthly friend comes a long. It use to be extremely heavy and lasted 14 days. I was hospitalized numerous times because of it and caused me to become anemic as well. Now it only lasts 5 days and it's not so heavy anymore. The birth control I'm on now doesn't make me moody, like Tri-cyclen lo did. I don't use tampons, just pads. I'm glad I came across this blog, because now I'm thinking of trying out the DivaCup. I read up on it and it sounds to be much better then pads or tampons. :D
